A NEW YORK ULTRA RUNNING GRAND PRIX EVENT SANCTIONED BY METROPOLITAN ATHLETIC CONGRESS
     
EVENT OBJECTIVE:   A 6-hour event on three different loops featuring 3 types of terrain (bridle path, trail & paved).  The event will be conducted in three parts like an "ultra triathlon". The event can be used as a challenging ultra race or for an ideal workout or just a fun trek. The surroundings and topography will astonish that you are in Queens.
 
ELIGIBILITY:   Open to all BUS, Forest Park Road Runner, GLIRC, Staten Island and Taconic Road Runner Members and friends of those memberships.
 
CHECK-IN:   In Forest Park on Memorial Drive at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South...  The location is about .7 mile east of  Woodhaven Blvd.  Look for signage to direct you to the start/finish area, just a few hundred yards away.
 
PRE-EVENT FACILITIES:   At the Jackson Pond Playground Comfort Station on Myrtle Avenue. 
 
AUTO DIRECTIONS:  
Jackie Robinson Parkway Westbound - From Queens & Long Island: (connects with the Grand Central Parkway and the Van Wyck Expressway south) to Exit #6 "Metropolitan Ave".  After exit ramp, LEFT (east) onto Metropolitan Avenue.  Go .3 mile (3rd traffic light) and then make RIGHT onto Park Lane South.  Proceed another .4 mile (road will bend right); after passing 112th Street, park on right side of street.
 
Jackie Robinson Parkway Eastbound - From Brooklyn:  Exit #5 "Myrtle Avenue, Woodhaven Blvd." Exit ramp will bear right, then RIGHT turn onto Myrtle Avenue (toward Woodhaven Blvd.)  STRAIGHT on Myrtle Ave passing Woodhaven Blvd for 1.1 miles to LEFT onto Park Lane South.  Best bet to park would be U-turn and park on parkside.
 
NOTE:  "NO PARKING" on Myrtle Ave in front of Jackson Pond Playground Comfort Station and west of Park Lane South.
 
TRANSIT DIRECTIONS:   
"E" & "F" subways to "Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike" Station.  Exit on south side of subway station.  Take Q37 bus to Park Lane South & Myrtle Avenue. Bus ride is a mile plus and takes only about 5 minutes.  Bus leaves Kew Gardens every 20 minutes (00, 20 & 40 on the hour).
 
LOOPS, TIMES AND DESCRIPTIONS:  
8AM to 10AM:  A 1.9-mile loop on bridle path or carriage road type terrain.  Loop is rolling, mainly on dirt terrain but also can be sandy or with gravel.  There also are some rocks and ruts.  But loop will be resillient, but watch for horse manure and the occasional horse.
 
10AM to 12:30 PM:  A 2.35-mile trail loop with a little bit everything such as crushed leaves, dirt, drainage boards, "log jumping", narrow passages, pine needles, rough macadam, sand, steps, stumps, tree skelunking and wood chips.  Loop is rolling to hilly with 3 significant hills and a few steep declines.  Loop IS run-able, but please be cautious and deliberate when navigating around or through the above.
   
12:30 PM to Finish:  A 1.3 mile rolling loop with a significant hill; half  on blacktop and other half on smooth cement footpath.
 
AID:   One station providing water, Gatorade and defizzed cola and food snacks.  Station will also provide medical supplies with nearby portible toilet.
Special Note:  Suggest you wear trail shoes or shoes with good traction and socks.
 
SCORING:   Loop counting and timing would be provided.  But please still bring a watch for the event finish.  There will be no short loop.
 
POST-EVENT:  Refreshments and awards will be distributed.

I, on behalf of my heirs and administrators, waive and release the Broadway Ultra Society (BUS), New York Ultra Running (NYUR), Metropolitan Athletics Congress, USATF, the City of New York and all principles for any and all claims of injuries and/or death suffered by me in the said event.  I am totally aware that this event can be hazardous and I acceot full responsibility for whatever may occur to me or I may experience at this event. I attest I am physically fit to run/walk the duration of the 6 hour time period.
